Behavioral Medicine Program

Our Behavioral Medicine Program provides consultation and evidence based short-term behavioral and cognitive therapy for children and adults with acute and chronic medical illness and physical difficulties. Although the disorders and difficulties treated are physically based, there are often behavioral influences and sequelae that need to be addressed.  With an understanding of the importance of the therapeutic alliance, we offer many systematic treatment programs proven to improve physical health, often while decreasing physical healthcare costs. Outpatient and primary care office services are designed to facilitate coping and adaptation to illness and disability or amelioration of symptoms. Treatment interventions are based on the available research demonstrating effectiveness and include: behavior modification, cognitive-behavioral therapy, relaxation training, hypnotherapy, parent training and other forms of health psychology.

Referrals are accepted from local primary care physicians, specialists, other health
professionals and prospective patients. We also partner with primary care organizations to provide integrated, on site services oriented to maximizing consumer satisfaction and minimizing physical health care costs. Our clinicians aim to work closely with the treating physicians and other clinicians to coordinate the most effective and comprehensive treatment.
