Behavioral Medicine
Our Behavioral Medicine Program provides consultation and evidence based short-term behavioral and cognitive therapy for children and adults with acute and chronic medical illness and physical difficulties. Although the disorders and difficulties treated are physically based, there are often behavioral influences and sequelae that need to be addressed. Outpatient services are designed to facilitate coping and adaptation to illness and disability or amelioration of symptoms.
Treatment interventions are based on the available research demonstrating effectiveness and include: biofeedback, behavior modification, cognitive-behavioral therapy, relaxation training, hypnotherapy, parent training and other forms of psychotherapy.
Referrals are accepted from local primary care physicians, specialists, other health professionals and prospective patients. Our clinicians aim to work closely with the treating physicians and other clinicians to coordinate the most effective and comprehensive treatment.
