Group psychotherapy is a unique form of therapy in which a small number of people meet together under the guidance of a professionally trained therapist to help themselves and one another. The therapy has been widely used and has been a standard treatment option for many years.

Each of us has been raised in group environments, either through our families, schools, organized activities, or work. These are the environments in which we grow and develop as human beings. Group psychotherapy is no different. It provides a place where you come together with others to share problems or concerns, to better understand your own situation, and to learn from and with each other and a therapist.

Group therapy works! Although no form of treatment is guaranteed to work for everybody, many research studies have demonstrated the effectiveness of group therapy for most people.

Individual Versus Group Therapy
Ideally group therapy participants will also be in individual therapy or have completed individual therapy. However, depending on the particular problem this may not be required. Our therapists appreciate the opportunity to coordinate care with individual therapists in the community and welcome inquiries and referrals from them.
