Dr. Hernandez provides psychiatric and psychopharmacological (medical) consult, assessment, and treatment of individuals with ages 3 years to 30 years. He has a family systems and strength-based approach to treatment. He also provides psychiatric consults whether medication is indicated, can be helpful, or not advised.
All new patients must be currently receiving regular psychotherapy unless deemed otherwise. If a patient is wishing to obtain psychotherapy, they may request such services at LifeStance Health at the same time. Telehealth option would be possible if deemed clinically appropriate.
His clinical interests include positive psychology, anxiety and mood disorders, attention deficit hyperactive disorder (ADD/ADHD), post-traumatic stress, psychosis, personality disorders, LGBTQI2-S and minority populations health; relationship difficulties; cultural psychiatry and child behavioral issues and collaborating with systems of care for the patient and family.
Howard Hernandez M.D. completed a Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship at Tufts Medical Center serving as chief fellow. He completed his residency in General Psychiatry at Case Western Reserve University at Metrohealth Medical Center in Cleveland, OH.
Before joining LifeStance Health, Dr. Hernandez was employed at Tufts Medical Center, Fenway Community Health Center, and East Boston Neighborhood Health Center serving a variety of populations. He is a psychiatrist for the U.S. Army Reserves, and is a board member at Shriners Hospital in Springfield, MA.
