Howard Hernandez M.D. completed a Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship at Tufts Medical Center serving as chief fellow. He completed his residency in General Psychiatry at Case Western Reserve University at Metrohealth Medical Center in Cleveland , OH.
Before joining CFPS, Dr. Hernandez was employed at Fenway Community Health Center and at North Suffolk Mental Health Center serving a variety of populations. He continues to work as a child psychiatrist working for the community at East Boston Neighborhood Health Center.
Dr. Hernandez is a Board Certified Psychiatrist and Board Certified Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist.
Dr Hernandez provides psychiatric and psychopharmacological (medical) assessment and treatment for adults and individuals 3 and older.
All new patients must be currently receiving regular psychotherapy. If a patient is not currently receiving psychotherapy they may request such services at CFPS at the same time.
His clinical interests include mood; anxiety; substance use, post-traumatic stress; psychosis; personality; psychopharmacology; LGBT and minority populations health; relationship difficulties; cultural psychiatry; public and community psychiatry; child behavioral issues and collaborating with systems of care for the patient and family.
Dr. Hernandez is available in our Lexington office on Tuesday 11am to 8pm Thursday 12pm to 4pm and Friday 8am to 3pm.
Dr. Hernandez participates in Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Beacon, Cigna, Harvard-Pilgrim, United/Optum, Medicare, Tufts Health Plan Commercial.
