About Thomas Moore, Ph.D.

Dr. Moore has extensive experience providing psychotherapy to adults with substance use disorders, trauma and mood disorders. His primary specialty areas focus on substance use disorders, smoking cessation, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and chronic pain. Dr. Moore primarily utilizes cognitive behavioral approaches (CBT). He conceptualizes substance use as occurring on a continuum and utilizes Motivational Interviewing (MI) and harm reduction approaches with substance use to improve a client’s engagement in treatment and facilitate healthy, long term, changes in lifestyle. He is also interested in providing psychosocial interventions to assist and support Medication Assisted Therapies (MAT) for substance use disorders. Dr. Moore has specialized training in Cognitive Process Therapy (CPT) for the treatment of PTSD.

    Thomas Moore, Ph.D. earned his doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from Virginia Commonwealth University. Dr. Moore completed his clinical internship with the New Jersey VA and a post-doctoral fellowship at the VA Boston Health Care System where he specialized in dual diagnosis.
