Colin Schafer, Psy.D. is a Post-Doctoral Fellow in Clinical Psychology.  Dr. Schafer received his undergraduate degree in psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and received his Doctoral Degree in Clinical Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology.  Dr. Schafer completed his APA pre-doctoral training at Associated Talmud Torahs, in which he provided psychological testing for children and adolescents experiencing difficulties in school.  Dr. Schafer also completed pre-doctoral training at Sheridan Shore Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, where he provided individual and group therapy for a geriatric population and at Haymarket Substance Abuse Agency, where he provided individual and group therapy for individuals suffering from substance abuse and dual diagnosis.  Dr. Schafer completed his pre-doctoral internship at North Central Bronx, where he provided assessment as well as individual and group therapy for individuals in inpatient, partial hospitalization and outpatient settings.

Services Provided

Dr. Schafer specializes in providing outpatient clinical care for adults who suffer from a variety of mental and behavioral health issues such as anxiety disorders, OCD, mood disorders, post-traumatic stress disorders, substance abuse disorders and relationship issues.  Dr. Schafer also conducts psychological testing and assessment for a wide range of presenting problems.  Dr. Schafer utilizes a variety of clinical approaches including CBT, Motivational Interviewing, Exposure Response and Prevention Therapy, Relational Therapy and Couples Therapy with a client-centered and collaborative focus.

Availability

Dr. Schafer is available in the Norwood office on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays and in the Weymouth office on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
