Mark Simmons, Psy.D. is a licensed psychologist and Certified Health Service Provider. Dr. Simmons graduated from Bates College. He received his Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the Massachusetts School of Professional Psychology. Dr. Simmons completed pre-doctoral training at the Couples and Family Clinic at Cambridge Health Alliance as well as Medfield State Hospital. He also completed a post-doctoral fellowship at the Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School.
Prior to joining Child & Family Psychological Services Dr. Simmons was in private practice in Acton, Massachusetts.
In addition to his clinical services, he serves as the Regional Clinical Director.
Dr. Simmons provides psychological testing and assessment services, individual psychotherapy for children, adolescents and adults, as well as couples and family therapy. He has experience in evidence based treatment of a wide range of behavioral health problems, with expertise in treating family and marital conflict, attention deficit and other executive functioning difficulties, trauma, anxiety, depression, persistent mental illness, psychotic disorders, Autism Spectrum Disorders, Non-verbal Learning Disorder, and Bipolar Disorder. Dr. Simmons works in close collaboration with other providers, primary care physicians, schools, and community organizations to provide the best quality and continuity of care.
Dr. Simmons leads a oppositional defiant disorder group for parents of children between the ages of 4 to 11 with behavioral issues. For more information about this group, please click here.
Dr. Simmons is available in our Norwood office on Monday, Tuesday, and Friday. He is also available in our Weymouth office on Wednesday and Thursday.
Dr. Simmons participates in the Blue Cross Blue Shield, Tufts, United Behavioral Health (UBH), Harvard Pilgrim (UBH-Pacificare), Medicare, Beacon Health Strategies- Commercial and GIC plans only, Aetna, Coventry/First Health and Commonwealth Care Alliance. CIGNA and other network plans cover his services on an out of network basis. With the exception of Tufts Health Plan payment for out of network services must be made at the time of service and the client must submit claims directly to the network.
