Dr. Byrne strongly believes in the importance of understanding the environment and upbringing of an individual, as well as establishing a strong connection and rapport with his clients. As a result, he utilizes a client-centered and systemic approach to treatment. He provides evidence-based psychological treatment for children and young adults through individual and family therapy. Dr. Byrne has experience treating a wide range of mental and behavioral health issues with a special interest in developmental disorders (e.g., autism spectrum, ADHD, intellectual and learning disorders, mood disorders, interpersonal relationship issues, stress-related disorders, behavioral and conduct issues, and LGBTQIA+ issues.) Dr. Byrne utilizes a holistic approach to treatment depending on the needs of the client and will meet the client where they are at in their treatment process. He incorporates a combination of cognitive behavioral therapy, psychodynamic therapy, client-centered and relational approaches, systemic therapy, and mindfulness approaches.
Dr. Byrne received his doctoral training in Clinical Psychology at William James College (previously the Massachusetts School of Professional Psychology) in Newton, MA. He recently completed his postdoctoral fellowship at LUK, Inc. in Fitchburg, MA. He completed his APA Doctoral Internship at Community Healthlink in Worcester, MA. Prior to his doctoral training, he received his Master’s Degree in Global Mental Health Counseling at William James College, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology at Elon University in Elon, NC.
