Cynthia Sosa is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over twenty five years experience in out patient community mental health. She has provided individual therapy in homes, schools, and clinic based settings in Cambridge /Somerville, and Lexington. She comes to the Lynnfield practice most recently from the Merrimack Valley area where she assisted patients within the primary care setting address health related anxiety, depression, and adjustment to life stress.
She brings comprehensive clinical experience in cognitive behavioral therapy, psychodynamic therapy, mindfulness based interventions, and most notably Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to treat anxiety, depression, and symptoms often related to grief, loss, and relational patterns.
Over her career Cindy has assisted individuals in Cambridge, Somerville, Lexington, and the Merrimack Valley navigate stress, depression and complex adjustment issues. Areas of specialty include anxiety, mood, codependency and stress-related disorders (e.g., headache, chronic pain, IBS, insomnia, hypertension).
She provides a safe healing environment and utilizes a holistic approach in her work. She welcomes adults age 23 and older who wish to address their current challenges. Many have benefited as she assists in teaching relaxation tools, identify limiting beliefs, challenge fear and limiting roles to open to experience greater joy and a sense of possibility.

Cynthia utilizes a variety of modalities depending on clients’ needs, including cognitive-behavior therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), dialectical behavior therapy, stress management, relaxation techniques, and mindfulness-based interventions.
Cynthia completed her Bachelors Degree in Psychology and Womens Studies at State University of New York at Oneonta in 1984 and her Masters Degree in Clinical Social Work in 1988 at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. She received monthly consultation in treating trauma, alcoholic family dynamics, anxiety, and depression under MaryAnn Pingalore, PhD, for over 15 years; received training in energy psychology under Tapas Fleming / Patricia Thatcher LICSW from 2010-2012, and studied Emotional Freedom Technique under Dr. Henry Grayson.
Cindy continues to practice meditation and study mindfulness based stress reduction; and welcomes the opportunity to teach and share these tools with her clients.
