Denise believes strongly in supporting relationships as a way to healing and growth. She offers individual, couples, and family therapy using Person-Centered Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused CBT, Dialectic Behavior Therapy (DBT), and expressive art therapy. She specializes in working with families utilizing child and family-centered play therapy and parent-child relationship therapy to address challenging behaviors in children. Denise has experience with adoption, infertility, peri- and post-partum period, developmental delays and disorders including autism, encopresis/eneuresis, grief, trauma, substance use and exposure.
Denise is a licensed mental health counselor with a Post Master’s Degree in Early Education Research, Policy and Practice. Denise holds Masters' degrees in education from Wheelock College and mental health counseling from Bay Path University. She began her passion for understanding child development as a student and research assistant at Wellesley College and the Center for Research on Women. She is certified as a trainer for both Learning Language and Loving It™ — The Hanen Program® for Early Childhood and Educators and the Pyramid Model (CSEFEL). She specializes in working with families with very young children (birth to 8), having served as an early childhood special educator for over 30 years. Denise is also an intermediate level certified Developmental Individual Differences Relationship Model (DIR-Floortime) provider, an approach to working with children with developmental challenges including autism. She has experience and certification as a special needs advocate and is well versed in the IEP process as both a teacher and parent.
