About Joseph O’Garr, M.D., Medical Director

Dr. O’Garr is a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist. He believes in a strength based collaborative approach in identifying solutions for children, adolescents and young adults with behavioral health needs. Dr. O’Garr provides psychopharmacological management that occurs within an overall treatment plan that includes maximizing ones own resiliency factors in supporting recovery and symptom remission. In addition to his clinical services, Dr. O’Garr also serves as LifeStance Health’s Northeast Regional Medical Director.

    After graduating with a bachelors degree from Tufts University in 1997, Dr. O’Garr spent 4 years working in the mental health field. He then went on to complete Medical School and both his General Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Residencies at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. Dr. O’Garr practiced at Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates in Wellesley, MA starting in 2010 and provided both direct patient care and served in administrative roles. He then served as the Medical Director for the Boston Children's Hospital Community Based Acute Treatment Program for 2 years prior to joining Child and Family Psychological Services. Dr. O'Garr is Board Certified in both Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and General Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
