About Elizabeth O’Shaughnessy, Psy.D.

Dr. O’Shaughnessy specializes in comprehensive neuropsychological evaluations of preschool and school-aged children with a wide range of medical and neurobehavioral concerns, including ADHD, learning disabilities, speech/language impairment, autism spectrum disorders, epilepsy, and hydrocephalus. Evaluations include a profile of cognitive strengths and weaknesses, diagnostic clarification, and recommendations for educational accommodations and specific treatment planning.

Dr. O’Shaughnessy’s research has focused on Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder and epilepsy in children, and applications of functional magnetic resonance imaging. Prior to becoming a pediatric neuropsychologist, Dr. O’Shaughnessy was a preschool teacher and held positions in educational research, policymaking, and consulting. Dr. O’Shaughnessy is a licensed psychologist and a certified health services provider.

    Dr. O’Shaughnessy received her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the Virginia Consortium Program in Clinical Psychology with a concentration in Clinical Neuropsychology. She completed a two-year Postdoctoral Fellowship in Pediatric Neuropsychology at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, D.C., and a one-year Predoctoral Internship with the Virginia Beach City Public Schools. Dr. O’Shaughnessy also holds a Master’s Degree in Education and a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Biology from Stanford University.
