Maggie Dwyer, LICSW has 25 years of clinical experience using evidence-based therapies and providing calm compassion and support to help individuals overcome obstacles to move forward and thrive in their daily lives. She has worked in a variety of settings with diverse populations, including individuals and families, using evidence-based approaches tailored to the unique needs of each person, including CBT (identifying and breaking negative thought patterns), DBT, mindfulness, and other modalities. For example, she helps medical students identify new coping strategies when facing upcoming stressful situations. Creative outlets of art and journaling exercises are incorporated into the therapeutic process when patients are interested in doing so. Maggie believes that change can happen when people are given safe guidance to identify and strengthen their own coping skills, release stress, identify personal goals and realize that they have potential to live fulfilling lives.
Maggie received her Master of Social Work degree at the University of Illinois, Chicago. She specialized in medical and school social work, completing her training and internships in hospitals and schools.
