Patricia provides a strengths based approach in therapy treating the following areas of concern: anger management, ADHD, depression, ODD, self esteem, behavioral and school concerns, school avoidance and communication issues.
Patricia’s areas of interest and specialty include working with children, adolescents, and families. She has been able to experience different clinical settings during her studies and in her career including: early intervention, adult inpatient, homebased, school based and community based treatment. Also, she has experience running adolescent groups as well as providing individual therapy in a partial hospitalization program. Patricia uses play therapy, art and humor to interact with clients and establish a rapport. She also has additional experiences with LGBTQ and grief work. She uses a psychodynamic approach as well as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Patricia recently attended new trainings in motivational interviewing and looks forward to utilizing the skills she has learned. Shge uses art and humor in treatment and will cater treatment to client and their families needs and goals for therapy.
Patricia received her undergraduate Degree-Bachelors of Arts and Sciences as a Psychology Major with a focus on children and adolescents in the year 2000 from UMASS Boston. She returned to school part time in 2003 and earned her Master’s Degree in Social Work from Boston University in 2006. During her graduate studies, Patricia was fortunate to do year long internships for an Early Intervention Program in Providence, RI and then on an adult inpatient unit at a mental health facility in Fall River, MA. Patricia was fortunate to have great professors, classmates and mentors during her studies.
