Dr. Susan Giurleo provides evidence-based psychological treatments for children, adolescents and adults. Her areas of specialty include treatment of ADHD, support for people on the autism spectrum, traumatic brain injury/cognitive support, health-behavior/lifestyle changes, trauma/PTSD, as well as parent coaching for families of children with special educational/medical needs.
Dr. Giurleo utilizes a variety of modalities depending on clients' needs, including cognitive-behavior therapy (CBT), stress management/relaxation techniques, Motivational Interviewing (MI), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), goal driven solution focused approaches and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT).
In addition, Dr. Giurleo specializes in a primary care mental health integration approach, treating clients' behavioral health in partnership with their primary care providers.
Dr. Giurleo received her doctoral training in Counseling Psychology at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Her pre-doctoral internship was at the University of New Hampshire Counseling Center and her post-doctoral work focused on psychotherapy for adolescents with severe mental illness (SMI). Prior to her doctoral training, Dr. Giurleo received her Masters in Education from Boston University in school counseling. She is a certified school psychologist in Massachusetts in addition to a licensed psychologist.
