Abby McGinn provides therapy to children and adolescents. She utilizes a focus on CBT, narrative therapy, art therapy, social-emotional learning curriculum, and play therapy to work with clients who present with anxiety, Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, depression, trauma, adjustment disorder, low self-esteem, emotional regulation, and transitioning family dynamics such as divorce. Abby utilizes a client-centered, strengths-based approach to therapy and enjoys building positive relationships with her clients and collaborating with them to create interventions tailored to their strengths and interests to provide effective results.
Abby recently graduated from the Boston College School of Social Work in May 2023 earning her Masters in Clinical Social Work with a focus on children, youth, and families. She completed her field education at Ditson Elementary School in Billerica as a Social Emotional Learning team member where she led individual and group sessions focusing on SEL topics such as anxiety, coping skills, self-regulation, and social skills. Her second placement was at Westwood Youth and Family Services as a Graduate Clinical intern where she had a caseload of individual clients, led social skills and anxiety coping groups for elementary school-aged children, and co-ran volunteer programs for high school students.
Abby completed her BA in Psychology at the University of Massachusetts Amherst Commonwealth Honors College in 2021 with Departmental Honors in Psychology and a certificate in Social Work.
