Ellen Gillander is a psychologist, who has been with LifeStance Health since 2020. She graduated from William James College with a doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology and a focus in Forensic Psychology. She completed both an APA internship, as well as a post-doctoral fellowship, at the Arkansas State Hospital before returning to Massachusetts in 2019.
Ellen believes in using a person-centered holistic approach to therapy and care. She utilizes modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral, Dialectic Behavioral, and Narrative therapies along with mindfulness, motivational interviewing, and behavior management techniques. Ellen works with adolescents and adults who are experiencing difficult adjustments in their education, relationships, or careers. She helps them challenge negative and limiting thoughts and assists them in discovering new perspectives to help them move towards their goals. Ellen believes in helping all individuals achieve their life of meaning and takes an adaptive approach to support individual needs.
In her spare time, Ellen enjoys individual and social pursuits. She is a supporter of lifelong learning and enjoys taking classes, trying a new craft technique or recipe, and learning new games. Ellen also enjoys being in nature and kayaking. She believes that selfcare is flexible and changes her activities to fit the need.
Dr. Gillander received her doctoral training in Clinical Psychology, with a specialization in Forensic Psychology, at William James College, in Newton, Massachusetts. She completed her pre-Doctoral internship at the Arkansas State Hospital, where she remained for her Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Forensic Psychology and Evaluation.
