About Liz Hughes, MA, LMHC

Liz provides art therapy, expressive therapy and counseling services to youth ages 3-20 and their families who are experiencing a wide variety of issues including ADHD, anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, disruptive and unsafe behavior, trauma, emotional regulation difficulties, Autism Spectrum Disorder, self injurious behavior, suicidal ideation and behavior and family conflict. She utilizes an ecletic, person-centered, trauma-informed and creative approach with therapy techniques drawn from art and expressive therapy, CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) and TF-CBT (Trauma-Focused Behavioral Therapy). Liz provides individual and family therapy and believes in the importance of family involvement in making lasting changes in kids' emotions and behavior. Her empathetic approach and sense of humor helps her easily form connections with youth and families. Education and Certifications: Liz received her training in mental health counseling and art therapy at the Master's Degree Program at Lesley University in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Prior to that, she studied studio art, graphic design and psychology, receiving her Bachelor's Degree at George Fox University in Newberg, Oregon.
