Stephen Slaten is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist who has been practicing since 1983. He graduated from the University of Houston with a PhD in Clinical Psychology with a special emphasis on Children and Families.
Stephen operates from a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Systems framework to understanding and treating the problems and life challenges clients present with in therapy. He treats individuals, couples and families and has expertise in working with trauma, substance abuse and addictions, and lifecycle issues.
Dr. Slaten received his PhD in Clinical Psychology at University of Houston, and completed a pre-doctoral internship in Child and Family Psychology at South Shore Mental Health Center. He continued his training in Family Therapy with externships at The Institute at Newton with David Treadway and at the Cambridge Family Institute. He has done extensive training in trauma-informed therapies. Before coming to PCA in 2014, Dr. Slaten was Executive Director of Jewish Family Service of Worcester for 14 years.
